DC Electricity - Discovery and Developments
Using engaging animation sequences to demonstrate core concepts, this program looks at the origins and development of our knowledge of direct current electricity. The video begins with the first uses of static electricity by the Greeks, then guides viewers through discoveries made by William Gilbert, Luigi Galvani, Alessandro Volta, and others during subsequent centuries.
Students will gain an understanding of the chemical battery, the “complete" circuit, electrolysis, electroplating, and negatively charged electrons. Resistance to flow is introduced as well as the use of both ammeters and voltmeters to monitor flow and potential.
